COLUMBIA, S.C. — An extended stretch of dry weather continues across the Midlands, with near-to slightly below normal temperatures expected through the weekend. Breezy winds and very low humidity are contributing to another day of elevated fire danger, and outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

The next chance for rain is not expected until late in the weekend or early next week, keeping the region locked in a dry pattern for the next several days.

High pressure will gradually build into the area today, keeping skies mostly clear and conditions dry.
