GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Sherry Kitchens joined the Child Advocacy Center in Gainesville in 2005.
When she started, they served 250 children a year; now that number has grown to more than 2,300 children served and 29 employees, according to Kitchens.
Specifically in 2024, the CAC served 3,964 children and caregivers. Of those, 63 were child sex trafficking cases, 754 were physical abuse cases, 908 were sexual abuse cases, and 239 required a specialized forensic interview.
They help children in Alachua County heal from their trauma caused by abuse, neglect, and human trafficking.
Thursday, October 23rd, is their 17th Annual Signature Fundraiser, Gainesville Gone Wild West at Santa Fe River Ranch.
