CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The city of Cleveland is investing $21 million to repair and improve all five police districts across the city.
Mayor Justin Bibb announced a partnership with Leopardo Energy to update buildings, some of which are over 50 years old. The 4th district building dates to May 1973.
“Our buildings should not look like this; they should not be in terrible condition, where we have five-gallon pails collecting water from the ceiling,” said City Councilman Michael Polensek.
Energy savings guarantee
The $21 million updates are designed to pay for themselves over time through increased energy efficiency. Leopardo Energy guarantees $48 million in savings on energy and operations costs over the next 20 years, or the company will cover the difference.
