QUINCY (WGEM) - One man’s expired medication can become another’s drug of choice — which is why Saturday’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a critical step in preventing substance abuse.

Since its establishment 16 years ago, the event has led to the confiscation of more than 19.8 million pounds of medication nationally.

The Quincy Police Department will be accepting unneeded medicine at the 54th Street Sam’s Club from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 25.

A full list of collection sites is available on the Drug Enforcement Agency’s website .

Disposal is free and anonymous. Syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs will not be accepted and liquid products must be properly sealed.
