TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Several organizations around southern Idaho are taking part in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.
The semi-annual event allows residents to bring unused or expired medications to drop-off locations where they can be disposed of safely.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, more than 310 tons of prescription drugs were collected during a similar event in April.
Organizers say the initiative serves multiple purposes beyond cleaning out medicine cabinets.
