OKEMOS, Mich. (WILX) -Meridian Township Police held a Halloween open house on Saturday, providing an opportunity for the community to connect with officers in a relaxed setting.
The open house allowed the public to interact with police, tour the station, and learn about department operations. Children and adults enjoyed cider and donuts, candy, and the chance to sit in police cars and examine equipment. McGruff the Crime Dog also made an appearance.
Children also got the chance to arrive in costumes, with many dressed as police officers and other law enforcement officials.
Assistant Chief Bart Crane said the event provides a valuable opportunity to interact with community members outside of emergencies.
