DOUSMAN, Wis. (WKOW) – Thirty years ago, Kellie Lynch and their mother found themselves homeless, living in a tent at Ottawa Lake Campground when a stranger named Richard Strong changed their lives.

Lynch recalls that summer as cold and wet. They and their mother slept in a small five-foot tent, waking up soaked every morning from the rain.

Strong offered them a larger tent. Lynch remembers feeling warm and dry, that small act brought huge relief.

"In the summer of 1992 I was 11 years old and living in a tent with my mother. She died about two years ago, and I finally started having emotional energy to go through her papers and documents and writings and journals in them, I found this letter," said Lynch.
