Grass areas at Foothills Community Park will be temporarily closed for winter seeding from Oct. 28 through Nov. 11, Yuma County officials announced Friday.
During the closure, crews will aerate the soil, plant perennial winter grass seed and apply fertilizer to prepare the turf for the colder months.
“The Bermuda grass base will naturally go dormant for the winter, but we want to ensure that the ground is lush, full and colorful for park visitors’ enjoyment,” Facilities Management Director Tiffany Anderson said in a statement.
While the grass areas are closed, the playground, walking loop, restrooms and ramadas will remain open to the public.
Officials ask visitors to avoid the fenced-off areas during the seeding process to help the new turf grow evenly and stay strong through the seas
