While the Albanese Labor government has taken important steps to tackle the risks of social media for young people, there is another, quieter danger growing behind the screen.

One that many parents don't even see coming.

It's gambling. And it's hiding in the games our kids are already playing.

Here in the ACT, we are making real progress to reduce gambling harm in our community. We are helping clubs move away from a reliance on poker machine revenue, reducing the number of machines across Canberra, and introducing account-based gaming in all venues by 2026-27. These are important steps.
