The Washington Capitals on Sunday fired assistant coach Mitch Love, six weeks after placing him on leave amid an investigation by the NHL.
The investigation began in June, when the league received a letter detailing allegations relating to Love’s personal conduct. On Sunday, at the conclusion of its investigation, the NHL suspended Love for the entire 2025-26 season, the league confirmed to The Washington Post. After learning the outcome of the investigation, the Capitals fired Love.
