WAWAYANDA – Opponents of the proposed facility planned in the Town of Wawayanda have been spreading misleading information and ignoring key facts about the property and its history, Town Supervisor Denise Quinn said.

She said the site has been an active industrial mine for the past 10 years, not open space or farmland. “For a decade, it has operated under heavy industrial use, generating truck traffic, noise, and environmental disruption while contributing very little in property tax revenue to the town, schools and county.”

The Orange County Industrial Development Agency, which has approved financial incentives for the development, said the Amazon project would pump millions of dollars into the town and school district, and provide hundreds of construction and permanent jobs.
