PORTLAND, Ore. — Authorities continue to investigate a fire that broke out early Sunday morning outside the home of Portland City Councilor Candace Avalos in the Mill Park neighborhood.
Portland Fire & Rescue and the Portland Police Bureau responded to reports of a fire around 2:40 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters found several vehicles and a carport on fire when they arrived. Crews put out the flames, and no one was hurt.
New findings released Monday afternoon show the fire started in a storage shed next to the home, not in Avalos' car as initially thought. The fire then spread to affect Avalos' property and neighboring homes.
