LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The people of Rio Bravo and El Cenizo will need to boil their water until further notice.

Webb County made that announcement on Tuesday evening, saying The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, or TCEQ, required the Water Utilities Department to let the public in those two communities know that the measure must be taken before drinking or using water.

This is due to recent high turbidity readings in the water system caused by what is being called “an overfeed of coagulant caused post-filter chemical precipitation,” which can interfere with disinfection.

The TCEQ is requiring, out of an abundance of caution, that a Boil Water Notice be issued for the residents of Rio Bravo and El Cenizo.
