CARTHAGE, Texas — Not only is senior Tyler Ortigo Carthage football's staring right guard, he's also one of the marching band's drum majors.

"When we're up comfortably, I go to my coach, I give them a little salute, and it's like, you're good, bud. So, I head on out there. I get ready," Ortigo said.

It's a unique situation that even head coach Scott Surratt, who's seen just about everything, still gets a kick out of.

"A couple weeks ago, you know, we were up pretty good, and we look out here and he's leading them in drum major. And, you know, we were just laughing. And, you know, look at Tyler go," said Surratt.
