SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – With Halloween just days away, the streets will soon be filled with young trick-or-treaters - but what's most important is their safety. Officials warn that Halloween night sees more pedestrian accidents than any other holiday. Local police and doctors are urging families to stay alert - both on sidewalks and behind the wheel.
Officials urge safety and caution for residents this week. Halloween is one of the most dangerous nights for kids walking outside, with nearly double the usual pedestrian deaths. Savannah Police will patrol busy neighborhoods, while Memorial Health urges parents to plan ahead and keep kids visible.
"One of the biggest things we worry about on Halloween night is pedestrian safety. Child pedestrians are twice as likely to be killed on Halloween
