A Ravenwood High School student is using her spare time to focus on making the world a little safer for college students.
Abigail Goddard says she became interested in developing an easier method to test for spiked drinks after a situation that hit a little too close to home.
“A close family member of mine was sexually assaulted after her drink was spiked in just her freshman year of college," the 18-year-old senior said. "After hearing her story, I researched to see if there were safety measures for people to prevent this happening."
Although several methods like drink covers already exist, Goddard said she was curious about developing a discreet way for students to check their drinks. She originally thought about straws and resuable tampon applicators before she finally landed on test
