A body found near a St. John the Baptist Parish highway last week belonged to a 66-year-old cyclist killed in a hit-and-run, Louisiana State Police said Wednesday.
State troopers found John Martin's body at around 1:30 p.m. Oct. 24 on LA 628 near Chaisson Lane, where they believed it had lain for several days. Family members said that Martin of Montz, Louisiana, had been missing since the evening of Oct. 21.
Martin had been walking his bike in LA 628's eastbound lane when a vehicle traveling eastbound struck him, investigators and the autopsy determined. The driver didn't stop, state police said.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash may contact Louisiana State Police Troop B at (504) 471-2775. Information can also be reported anonymously onl
