WEST HARTFORD, Conn. —

West Hartford’s food scraps program is being expanded after it exceeded expectations since its launch in April.

Right now, at select locations in West Hartford, residents can dispose of any waste from their homes in green food scrap bins. The program has been met with major popularity, and officials have now ordered 10 more bins to be put in place at more locations around town.

Since launching on Earth Day, it’s served as a convenient way for people to dispose of unwanted food waste around their house, and Recycling Coordinator Katherine Bruns says even though officials knew of the demand, the popularity still exceeded expectations.
