PORTLAND, Ore. — A father was sentenced to life in prison Monday for the death of his 15-month-old daughter in Lincoln County.
On Sept. 26, Emerson Cromwell, 27, was convicted of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and first-degree manslaughter after nearly a month-long trial, Lincoln County District Attorney's Office said.
Cromwell called 911 to report that his daughter was unconscious and nonresponsive on Aug. 9, 2022. The child was immediately transported to a hospital, where it was determined she was suffering from a brain bleed. She was then life-flighted to Oregon Health and Science University's Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland and died the following morning.
The Oregon State Police Medical Examiner opined the cause of death to be homicide
