GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Greenville County Schools approved an impact fee study during a meeting on Tuesday.
An impact fee is a one-time charge for new developers. The fees could be used to offset the costs that come with a growing population, district officials said.
Board Chair Carolyn Styles said the study will provide valuable information to help the district determine if an impact fee is the best path forward.
Styles said, “I think that there’s no way to really have that kind of understanding without a thorough study, and that is what I’m looking for. I’m looking for the facts, the details.”
The study is expected to cost around $59,000. It was unanimously approved by the school board.
