RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The former Raleigh police officer accused of dropping a DWI investigation in exchange for a sexual favor was indicted Tuesday on both existing and new charges, court records show.
While on-duty on Sept. 12, Tremale Stephon Cogdell allegedly encountered the victim during a traffic investigation and brought them back to his home in his patrol car, where "a sexual encounter occurred", according to Raleigh police.
Cogdell is charged with sexual misconduct of a person in custody, felony obstruction of justice, and willful neglect of duties, according to Raleigh police.
On Tuesday, according to court records, Cogdell was indicted on those three existing charges and five new felony counts of soliciting prostitution.
