SUNFLOWER, AZ (AZFamily) — A state highway east of the Valley is partially closed Thursday morning after a serious crash and reported fire.
Details about the crash remain limited. It happened on southbound State Route 87 near Sunflower around 6 a.m.
An Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) spokesperson said it was a single-vehicle crash, but injuries are unknown at this point.
Arizona Department of Public Transportation (ADOT) crews closed southbound SR 87 at the SR 188 intersection after the crash, but one lane has since reopened.
According to az511, a fire in the area prompted the closure of the road. Details about the reported fire are unclear.
