MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WEVV) — A Madisonville woman is in the Hopkins County Jail after police say she admitted to assaulting two children.

Officers say they received a complaint from the Department for Community Based Services about two children who were assaulted in Madisonville.

According to police, the victims said they were getting ready for school when their mother, 22-year-old Brittany Emerson, assaulted them.

Police say a 5-year-old victim had bruising around his eye, and a 7-year-old victim had bruising around his neck and back.

MPD says Emerson agreed to speak with police. They say she admitted to punching the 5-year-old in the face, and to grabbing the 7-year-old around the neck and punching his back.

Emerson was arrested and booked into the Hopkins County Jail, and is charged
