LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird has proclaimed October 30th, 2025 as ‘Ken Siemek’ Day in honor of his retirement and legendary career at 10/11.
Oct. 30 is Chief Meteorologist Ken Siemek’s final day on air at 10/11 after 44 years. His last broadcasts will be at 5 and 6 p.m.
10/11’s Jon & Taryn Vanderford and Brad Anderson surprised Ken with the mayor’s proclamation Thursday live on Pure Nebraska.

Whereas Ken Siemek was born in Columbus, Nebraska and graduated from Columbus High School.
And whereas Ken went on to study journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and on October 1st, 1981, began his journey at 10/11 News as an intern.
