COLUMBIA, S.C. — Finger-pointing was on full display at the State House on Wednesday, as the Legislative Audit Council’s 2024 review of SLED’s statewide sexual assault kit tracking system was discussed.

The tracking system, created under a 2020 state law , is designed to follow sexual assault kits from collection to testing, allowing survivors and law enforcement to see where each kit is in the process.

The system, called Track-Kit, was developed by InVita Healthcare Technologies , which also provides similar systems to several other states.

The audit, originally released in October 2024 , criticized SLED’s handling of that system.
