FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Marcus Jones is having quite a season so far.
Not only did the New England Patriots cornerback sign a contract extension earlier this week, but on Thursday, he was also named AFC Defensive Player of the Month.
Jones, 27, played a big part in the Patriots going 4-0 in October. His eight passed defended were tied for the most in the NFL, and he also recorded 20 tackles, two interceptions and a sack over the course of the month.
At the start of the month, Jones was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Carolina Panthers. He set a single-game franchise record with 167 return yards on three punts, which included an 87-yard return for a touchdown.
