LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan has been selected to host a new multi-billion-dollar facility for OpenAI’s Stargate project, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced on Thursday.

The project, built by Oracle and Related Digital, will bring 2,500 construction jobs and 450 permanent on-site jobs to Michigan, Whitmer said. The site will bring 1,500 more jobs to the rest of the county.

“This transformational new Stargate OpenAI facility, built by Oracle and Related Digital, will create 2,500 good-paying union construction jobs, more than 450 permanent high-skill, high-paying jobs on site, and 1,500 more in the community while helping us lead the future of advanced manufacturing and technology,” said Whitmer.
