MADISON, Wis. -- The work to replace one of Madison's bumpiest stretches of road is nearly complete.
Packers Ave. will reopen at the railroad crossing near International Lane beginning at 6:30 a.m. Friday. Contractors completed work on the crossing Thursday afternoon, however newly-placed asphalt needs time to cool and set.
Work on the crossing began on Monday, and forced drivers to detour using North Sherman Ave. and Aberg Ave. The work was sorely needed, as time and the elements had turned the railroad crossing into a mess.
Now, things will hopefully be much smoother when the road reopens Friday morning.
