The Fresno City Council has authorized the City Attorney’s Office to send election monitors to vote centers around the city for the Nov. 4 special election on Proposition 50.
Attorneys who work in the City Attorney’s office will serve as election monitors, City Attorney Andrew Janz said on Thursday.
The big picture: The council voted 6-0 in closed session to deploy election monitors next Tuesday. Councilman Tyler Maxwell was absent. • City election monitors will join federal and state officials at around a dozen vote centers across the city. • Janz said the election monitors will be present at vote centers to ensure that there is no voter intimidation, not voter interference and to make sure that all votes are counted. • Deploying the election monitors will not be an extra expense
