Mendota Mayor Victor Martinez isn’t hiding his displeasure with Fresno County for not giving the city a vote center for the Proposition 50 special election.
Martinez told The Sun that Mendota citizens do not have an equal opportunity to vote in the election because of Fresno County’s decision.
The big picture: Fresno County’s map of vote centers for the Nov. 4 special election shows that Mendota does not have a vote center in the city. • Instead, there is a ballot drop box located in front of Mendota City Hall. • The closest vote center is located in Firebaugh, located roughly eight miles away from Mendota. • Fresno County offers 23 vote centers in total for the Prop. 50 election and nearly 59 ballot drop box locations.
