A Fresno Marine will spend decades behind bars for murdering a friend and fellow Marine after a night of drinking.
The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that Christian Lavin, 33, was sentenced to 35years to life in state prison for first-degree murder and for personal use of a firearm.
Driving the news: Lavin was sentenced on Thursday by Judge Leanne Le Mon after being convicted on May 29 by a jury. • Lavin shot and killed friend and fellow Marine Roberto Roman, 30, in the backyard of Lavin’s home. • Roman had been visiting Lavin in the evening, and they talked and drank alcohol together. • Lavin and Roman engaged in a friendly wrestling match in the early hours of the morning.
