A JetBlue flight from Mexico to New Jersey was forced to make an emergency landing on Thursday after a sudden loss of altitude left several passengers hurt, according to ABC News and the airline.
According to JetBlue’s statement, the aircraft diverted to Tampa, Florida, where some of the injured passengers were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The flight had been en route from Cancún to Newark when the incident occurred.
Pilots reported to air traffic control that at least three passengers suffered possible lacerations. Despite calm weather conditions, the crew explained that the injuries were linked to a “flight control issue,” according to Fox 13 News .
