JEFFERSON CITY — The Salvation Army's location in Jefferson City is asking for an increase in donations to keep up with growing demand for its services.

As recently as Friday, Oct. 24, the nonprofit served 57 families in the span of two hours.

"We have large distributions where we have nearly 100 people coming through at a time, and we want to have as much food as we can," Salvation Army Major Chris Clark said. "We want to be able to provide about a week's worth of food when people come in, and it's been a struggle."

The Salvation Army has seen a drastic increase in the use of its food pantry.
