JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) -Through Jackson County Intermediate School District’s “Central Campus Connections” initiative, its students are building bonds with Columbia High Schoolers.
“There’s people everywhere running around, cheering, just having fun. So, that’s what kind of starts off is people who haven’t met before, and now we’re like good buddies hanging out,” said Chase Dukate, a Columbia Central senior.
Every six to eight weeks, Jackson County Intermediate School District and Columbia High School have these peer-to-peer hangouts for these friends.
“The adults don’t even have to navigate as much of the day because the students are very comfortable with coming in and making those connections with our students,” said Ashleigh Abbee, a high school special education teacher.
