SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -East Sunshine Church of Christ is preparing to begin its 18th season as a cold shelter , partnering with Community Partnership of the Ozarks to provide overnight shelter for men seeking a place to stay warm.
Karen Mizell, who has attended East Sunshine for 47 years, will oversee the church’s cold weather shelter operations for the eighth season. The season runs from Saturday, Nov. 1, until March 31.
The gym will be ready to house up to 50 men.
Sunday is designated as a First Alert Weather Day, with morning lows near or below freezing. However, the church still needs volunteers for overnight shifts.
