SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) - Halloween is considered the deadliest night of the year for child pedestrians, with organizations like Safe Kids of the Piedmont urging parents to ensure trick-or-treaters are highly visible.
According to Safe Kids of the Piedmont, 3,800 children, in the U.S. visit emergency rooms annually due to pedestrian injuries on Halloween. This statistic highlights the increased risk children face while trick-or-treating.
"More children are seen in the E.R. across America on Halloween because of pedestrian injuries," said Penny Shaw, Program Coordinator with Safe Kids of the Piedmont.
In Greenville, Community Risk Reduction units are on standby to respond to any accidents that may occur. These units focus on educating trick-or-treaters and their parents about the import
