KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Downtown Kansas City convenience store, which the city says is a nuisance, has 10 days to close its doors.

The building owner terminated the lease, but Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas says it was part of a collaborative effort to address public safety concerns downtown.

"Our hotel visitors, our downtown residents, our downtown business owners have dealt with it for enough period of time," Mayor Lucas said.

From August of 2023 to August of this year, the Kansas City Police Department was called to the Downtown Market at 11th Street and Grand Boulevard 184 times.
