PORTLAND, Ore. — A Portland woman riding an electric scooter has died, less than a day after a crash with a car, police said.
On Oct. 22, at 1:45 a.m., police were patrolling when they saw a Lime e-scooter heading along westbound Weidler Street against one-way traffic, where it entered an intersection and collided with another car, a 2016 Mercedes Benz GLC300 SUV, that was south on North Vancouver Avenue.
Officers requested emergency medical services and rendered aid to the rider, as well as stopped traffic in the area, with more officers responding to assist.
The rider, 41-year-old Alicia M. Long, was transported to the hospital, while the driver of the Mercedes Benz stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
