BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — If you were driving up and down State Street in the Capital city earlier today, you may have wondered what all the American flags lining the road were for.

Well, it's because November 2nd marks 136 years since North Dakota was admitted as a state.

In fact, North Dakota was the 39th State admitted into the union.

So, in honor of that, North Dakotans gathered at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck, to celebrate the state`s official commemoration and celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

With the state's birthday today, there's lots of excitement for what's to come for the state's celebration, as well as America's 250th as a whole.
