MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) -- New mayors and city council members will be sworn in later today. Along the Gulf Coast, several new people are taking office for the first time.
While each of these new mayors has their own objectives and paths to victory, one commonality in the most recent round of city elections is that incumbency wasn’t a guarantee of victory.
Up first, the race that got the most attention. New Mobile Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis will be sworn in at Government Plaza later this morning at 10, along city council members, two of them are newly elected.
Cheriogotis is the first new mayor Mobile has had in 12 years since Sandy Stimpson opted not to run this time around. We’ll talk more with Cheriogotis.
Elsewhere in Mobile County, Carletta Davis will be sworn in this morning as Prichard
