A home on Janey Avenue sustained “significant” damage from a fire Saturday morning.

North Bay Deputy Fire Chief Greg Saunders said just after 5 a.m. firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 75 Janey Avenue.

“Upon arrival emergency crews from all three stations were met with heavy fire in the roof and at the rear of the home. All of the seven teenagers staying at the home that evening were able to safely evacuate after being alerted to the danger by the smoke alarms in the residence.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the Fire Prevention division.
