DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- The Decatur Fire Department is investigating a fire that damaged a house Sunday evening.

The fire happened on Constant View Drive near Maryland Heights Road, according to a news release from the Decatur Fire Department. Crews were dispatched at 5:37 p.m., and they arrived to find a two-story home with heavy smoke and fire coming from the building.

The first firefighters on the scene took a hose line into the home and began attacking the fire. Meanwhile, other firefighters searched the home for victims, ventilated the structure, established a continuous water supply and secured the home's utilities.

"Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts, the fire was contained before it could spread throughout the structure," department officials said.
