More illegal street racing drivers than ever are being hauled to court in the West Midlands.

It comes as West Midlands Police scooped a national award for putting the brakes on car cruisers.

The force's Operation Hercules Team scooped the innovation and excellence award at the NPCC Roads Policing Conference in Manchester last week.

Judges were told how street racers know that they will face firm police action if they travel to the region to take part in events, which are banned under a High Court injunction.
