CRITTENDEN COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - The Arkansas Department of Transportation will close all lanes of the Interstate 55 Mississippi River Bridge for two days to perform bridge joint repairs.
According to ARDOT the closures will be Saturday, Nov. 15 and Sunday, Nov. 16, weather permitting.
The closure will extend from Exit 1, Bridgeport Road in Arkansas, to Exit 12, Crump Boulevard/Riverside Drive in Tennessee.
Before the closure, I-55 will go down to one lane at Exit 4, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive/Highway 38.
The southbound lanes of I-55 will reopen Sunday evening, Nov. 16. Northbound lanes will remain closed until Tuesday, Nov. 18.
A detour will be marked with signage. Drivers are encouraged to use the I-40 Mississippi River Bridge as an alternate route.
