SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Reliable and fast public transportation is vital in a booming area like Northwest Arkansas.
Tim Conklin, Executive Director of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission, says that over the past year, his commission has worked with a consultant to look at three modes of transit for the area.
The "Transit Alternative Study" is meant to create a more efficient mode of public transportation. Those three transportation models are a rapid bus transit, a light rail, and a commuter rail.
Conklin said one of the key things they are looking into is maintenance and operation costs. “Bus Rapid Transit came out on top after they were scored, with regard to what the region can afford,” he said.
But what is a Bus Rapid Transit system, and how will it flow with traffic?
