A man working on a highway project on Interstate 95 in Foxborough was struck and seriously injured Monday by a hit-and-run driver, State Police said.
The worker suffered serious injuries in the crash, which happened around 2:15 a.m., State Police said.
He is expected to survive.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle struck a construction worker as he retrieved a sign from the beginning of a detail setup,” State Police said. “Troopers on scene rendered aid to the victim and applied a tourniquet to his lower leg.”
The worker was rushed to an area hospital for further treatment.
“Although he is expected to live, the impact of his injuries illustrates the danger of failing to drive with care in and around work zones,” State Police said.
