SOMERSET TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - Human remains were found inside a burned vehicle in Somerset Township Monday afternoon.
Somerset Township and Hillsdale County detectives, along with the Michigan State Police (MSP) First District Special Investigation Section, are now investigating the suspicious fire.
MSP troopers responded to Sandhill Road and Baker Road around 4:30 p.m. for reports of a vehicle fire.
Investigators discovered human remains inside the vehicle after putting out the flames.
Detectives from the MSP First District Special Investigation Section were called to the scene to lead the investigation.
The remains are believed to be those of a woman. However, positive identification hasn’t been confirmed yet.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
