LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan State Police First District detectives are investigating the discovery of human remains in a "suspicious vehicle fire" in Hillsdale County.
MSP First District reports in an X post that troopers from the Jackson Post were sent to the area of Sandhill Road and Baker Road for a vehicle fire on Monday at around 4:30 p.m.
Police say that human remains, which appear to be a woman, were found inside the vehicle after the fire was put out.
Police say that they have yet to positively identify the remains.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident or who may have information related to this investigation to contact the MSP Jackson Post at 517-780-4580.
