SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Community Clinic announced the first baby born through its new Midwifery program.
This is part of an ongoing effort to increase maternal health access in the state of Arkansas.
According to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences' Institute for Community Health Innovation, Arkansas has the highest maternal mortality rate in the United States.
Following recommendations made to the Arkansas Strategic Committee for Maternal Health, 2025 legislation allowed the Community Clinic to establish its new midwifery program.
