The phase two of the Election Commission's special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 12 states and Union Territories begun on Tuesday (November 4). The states and Union Territories undergoing the exercise in phase 2 are: the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Among these, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and West Bengal will go to the polls in 2026.

West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya told ANI, "The people of West Bengal want that SIR (of electoral rolls) to be conducted in the state, and it will be done."

The SIR exercise will continue till December 4. The EC will release the draft electoral rolls on December 9, and the final electoral rolls
